Curtis Blackwood who is retiring and the General election Candidate for the North Carolina Senate seat currently held by Sen. Eddie Goodall.  We had a great turnout and the candidates answered several questions pertaining to the position they are seeking and the needs of Union County.  The candidates for NC House are Jeff Gerber and Craig Horn.  The Candidates for NC Senate are Fern Shubert and Tommy Tucker.  Tommy Tucker did not attend due to a miscommunication, however he will be given time at our April meeting to answer questions and present his platform.   We also heard from Hal Jordon, Candidate for the US House of Representatives Dist. 8.  Also in attendance was John Barker, candidate for NC House.  He is unopposed in the primary, however will be running against Prior Gibson in November.

In other business, the membership voted to dissolve our relationship with NC Federation of Republican Men.  This issue had been in debate over the past several months and due to general disatifaction with the operation of Federated and their failure to provide information that had been requested, our membership felt that the relationship served no purpose and voted to end our Federated status.
